Web design – Why is so important?

For most people, your website will be the initial impression that they will have on your brand or company. This is what customers will first see before you offer your service or product at all, and to make that impression is crucial Web Design! According to research, the first 7 seconds after a visitor arrives on the website are crucial because it depends on the initial impression of the visitor whether he or she will stay on the site and search your offer or simply leave the page.

The website is the face of your business, so it is important that it be appealing and attractive to your customers. This is why your site needs to look professional, modern, but on the other hand, simple and easy to use so that visitors can quickly find and find what they need.

Potential clients will spend a very small amount of time on your site, so every second of retention on your site means a lot and leads to the conversion and achievement of your goal.

Everyone knows they recognize good web design, but few know how to create good web design.

You can activate incredibly successful internet marketing campaigns, but it won’t matter to you if you have a poorly designed and outdated website.

These are all the reasons why Web Design is important and why you need to have a website that follows the latest standards of modern web design and gives a good user experience. Now I will give you some of the proven methods you need to follow to ensure that your website has an adequate website design.

What is Good Web Design?

Good Web Design is effective. Easy.

It serves to build credibility by being intuitive, establishing trust and influencing you to increase website conversions (contact, email collection, product sales, or service ordering).

The standards of great web design are constantly changing and improving, so you have to follow them, customize your website to them and always stay up to date!

KEEP IT SIMPLE

Excessive and overcrowded Web Design can cause counter-effects. Too much text, images, widgets can negatively affect a visitor who does not want to waste time reading boring, dry texts, and this can result in visitors leaving the site shortly after the visit begins. Excessive design can also significantly slow down the page load speed.

Always stick to simple solutions. Write and post text blocks that affect the essence, then enrich them with CTA buttons, questions, or interactive elements. Do not use industry jargon but simply treat your visitors as if you were writing a magazine or poster.

Some pages on your website have a note of minimalism. Minimalism is a great trend that has been in place in Web Development for many years and will be a long time coming. Simplicity drives to Conversion Path because it narrows the number of visitor options and increases site conversion efficiency.

Don’t be afraid to use blank (white or other colors) space. The gaps help to draw visitors attention to what is important, ie what you actually want them to see. Otherwise you will have a site that is full of information and the visitor will not know where to click.

This is where the same design philosophy applied by well-known brands selling wardrobe comes to light. You noticed that when you walk into the shop, the products (jeans, shirts, etc.) are not packed on shelves, but there is plenty of space around each product and the interior around them is nicely positioned. This is because they favor quality over quantity and because they respect minimalism. Remember the main motto of minimalism is: „Less means more“.

100% responsive web design

According to Xmetrix statistics, if visitors reach a page that loads more than 3 seconds, 40% of them will leave that page. Even more interesting is Google’s data that the average time for a page to fully load on a mobile device is an absurd 22 seconds !?

When this fact is compounded by the fact that over 62% of people today use a mobile device for surfing the Internet, then you understand why customizable web design is a must have today.

Quite simply, your website must look pretty when opened on any device. All possible devices are:

  • Mobiles (do ~500px)
  • Tablet devices (od 500 do 100px)
  • Old monitors  (od 1000px do 1300px)
  • Laptop devices (~1347px)
  • HD rresolution above 1800px

However, this does not mean that your site should look identical across devices. Something like that is not possible. It just needs to be tailored to all devices (eg, at high resolutions on the side, 4 images in two columns can be seen while on the mobile only one centered in the middle of the screen).

You must have a „Conversion Funnel“

Your site must be easy to use and you need to narrow down the number of possible choices for the visitor so that he or she does not “get lost” on your site. In this way, you will direct your visitors to what is important to you, they will focus only on that and step by step to get your conversion (ie your sales or just contacting you).

What would it look like in practice? Take for example an online retailer looking to sell their new model. In this case, we would create a page from multiple segments where each successive would build on the previous one so that the visitor would have the impression that he or she was on a trip and would go from one level to the next. Initially, we would list some basic features of the model (without too boring text), then upload high quality images, explain why this product is needed by users (present a problem and find a solution), and some of the last segments would be the Call to Action button (“Call to Action button ”) which is actually a conversion, that is, your goal.

This way you virtually guide your visitors and give them a „Conversion Funnel“ that they will go through to get conversions instead of „wandering“ around the site and on different pages of the site.

The position of „call to action“ button

The most important element of the Path to Conversion is the Call to Action (hereinafter referred to as „CTA“). It’s a button without which we can’t talk about effective modern web design. These are usually buttons like ‘Subscribe to the Newsletter’, ‘Contact Us Today’ or ‘Buy Now’ etc.

Your website should convey very clearly what exactly your business is about. Then, they should be intuitively led to the desired call to action and to conversion. That is why it is very important where these buttons are located and how they are designed.

Make sure that the CTA buttons are centrally located on your side and look aesthetically pleasing and easily visible. A good rule to keep in mind when creating great web design is how many clicks a customer needs to complete the desired CTA.

According to CTA research, the buttons should be bright colors (red, green, orange) because they are more attention-grabbing and visitors cannot skip them at all. It is also convenient to use arrows or characters such as → Click here.

Always narrow down the number of choices ie buttons. Ideally, you only have one CTA because in that case it is easier for the visitor to make a decision as he is not overwhelmed by the options he can click.

These are some of the most important principles that you need to follow to make your website’s web design appealing and effective, and thus contribute to presenting yourself or your company in the right way and increasing your chance of achieving the goal that led you to create your site.
